AP National Golf Club: Rules & Etiquette

The rules and regulations of the Atlantic Pacific National Golf Club are designed to ensure a superior, equitable, and respectful experience for all members and guests, upholding the traditions of the game and protecting the integrity of our host venues.

Rules of Play

The USGA Rules of Golf govern all play, supplemented by any temporary Local Rules posted by the host facility or printed on the official tournament scorecard.

  • Pace of Play: Players are expected to maintain a brisk pace, completing 18 holes in four hours or less. Please always stay immediately behind the group in front of you. Slower groups must allow faster groups to play through.

  • Starting Play: All rounds must begin on the 1st tee or the designated starting hole authorized by the AP National Pro Shop or the host course staff. No player shall “cut in” or start on any other hole.

  • Golf Carts: Only two riders and two sets of clubs are permitted per cart. All members and guests must strictly adhere to the host facility’s rules regarding cart usage, directional signs, and ‘cart path only’ areas, treating all rented equipment and property with the utmost care.

Player Responsibility and Venue Respect

Maintaining proper etiquette and respecting the host facility’s playing conditions is a mandatory shared responsibility of all members and guests.

  • Repair Ball Marks: Always repair your pitch mark and one other on the putting surface.

  • Replace Divots: Please replace all divots on tees and fairways, or fill them immediately with sand provided by the host venue.

  • Rake Bunkers: After playing from a bunker, rake all disturbed areas thoroughly, placing the rake according to the host venue’s guidelines.

Dress Code

Appropriate golf attire is required for all players on the host course, practice facilities, and in the designated Clubhouse dining areas.

  • Gentlemen: Collared shirts or mock turtlenecks are required and must be tucked in. Slacks or Bermuda-length shorts are required. Denim, gym shorts, and swimwear are prohibited.

  • Ladies: Appropriate golf shirts (with or without collars) are acceptable. Slacks, skirts, and shorts must be of appropriate golfing length. Denim, halter tops, and swimwear are prohibited.

  • Footwear: Soft-spiked golf shoes or approved flat-soled athletic shoes must be worn. Metal spikes are strictly prohibited.

Conduct and General Regulations

  • Cell Phones: The use of cell phones should be limited to the parking lot and locker room. On the host venue and in dining areas, please set devices to silent.

  • Guests: Members are responsible for the conduct and attire of their guests at all times and must accompany them during their visit to the host venue.

  • Food and Beverage: All food and beverages consumed on the host facility’s property must be purchased from that facility. Outside alcohol is strictly prohibited on the premises.
